BEHRINGER PARTY ROCKS NAMM PRE-SHOW
So, what did you do last night? Even if you went to a party, it probably wasn’t as cool as the BEHRINGER pre-NAMM show party on Wednesday night in Anaheim, California! (Home of Disney Land and the Winter NAMM Convention).
Just FYI, the NAMM show is one of the biggest tradeshows for our industry. The acronym NAMM originally stood for National Association of Music Merchants, but nowadays you don’t need an acronym to be cool, so it’s simply called NAMM and it’s a big gathering of all the combined interests of the global music industry. The whole town is filled with cool people, tons of musicians, lots of music-related manufacturers, and many retail dealers and product reps.
At the pre-NAMM show party we had a standing room only crowd of BEHRINGER dealers in a hotel ballroom, with tons of fancy appetizers, an open bar, and entertainment by the Rock N Roll Fantasy ALL STAR BAND - featuring five incredibly talented and accomplished rock stars. (If you don’t know about Rock N Roll Fantasy Camp, check out their website at www.rockcamp.com).
The band consisted of Mark Hudson - Aerosmith producer - on lead vocals and guitar, Kip Winger - Winger - on vocals and bass, Earl Slick - David Bowie, John Lennon - on lead and rhythm guitar, Bruce Kulick - Kiss - on lead and rhythm guitar, and Chris Slade - AC/DC - on drums. They played a totally high-watt, full-throttle set for two hours straight with no breaks and no slouchin’ on stage. We’re talking song after song after song, and they just kept it coming – all songs you would recognize and all great songs that everybody likes. I should have grabbed a set list to remember some the tunes, but here’s just a tiny recap: An AWESOME Pink Floyd Song, which I apologize, I can’t recall the title. But drummer Chris Slade used to play with David Gilmour, among many other greats (including AC/DC for 6 years, Asia for 6 years, Paul Rodgers and Jimmy Page in the Firm); They did an amazing rendition of “Rebel Rebel” a great David Bowie hit, who Earl Slick used to play and toured with for several years; They did the rowdy Rod Stewart song “Hot Legs,” and that was a lot of fun for a number of reason, which I need a whole new paragraph just to tell you about!
So, Hot Legs came later in the set, and the band called the four runway models up to the stage. Whoa! I forgot to mention that prior to the band taking the stage, we had a BIG presentation for our dealers. It was a runway-style "fashion-show" theme, with 4 young, attractive models going down the runway presenting our sleek and stylish BRAND NEW BEHRINGER GEAR. We featured 20 new products, some which were too big to carry, so they were rolled out by assistants who did the grunt work while the models showed off the products (and their hot legs – see, there is a thread here!)
OK, Wait - I'm sorry, but we have to leave it a cliff-hanger for now! There is so much more to tell you about, but there is only a few short hours before the first official day of the NAMM Convention begins. So that means we gotta be bright-eyed and bushy tailed in our super-cool BEHRINGER BOOTH and BUGERA BOOTH. So, there's no time to finish the story right now but check back to this blog site soon and the rest of the pre-show extravaganza will be posted!
What you can look forward to:
♣ The Hot Legs Number
♣ Mr. Behringer becoming part of the All Star Band, and rocking the house like he’d been in the band for years
♣ More details on the BEHRINGER runway show and the new products
♣ More info on the cool musicians in the band, and what they are famous for (it’s impressive)
♣ AND, you gotta hear about how BUGERA AMPS ROCKED! All the guys in the band played BUGERA (except the drummer, who played DW), and wow, they all had totally cool tones that were unique sounding and individual to them. I can’t wait to tell you all about it. Stay Tuned over the next couple days, OK? Posts will be updated all throughout the show! We'll try to get some photos uploaded too.
